Mejores Barcelona

Methodology

A neutral list with no paid positions and prices with source and date: sponsorship is kept separate and always labelled Sponsored. This page explains how we collect the data, how centres appear, how sponsorship is kept separate from the content and how we work and update the texts at Mejores Barcelona.

Where the prices come from

Reference prices are collected from public sources and stored with their date. We use three kinds of source:

  • The centres' own websites, which are the main source. We note the page address, the date, the exact service and the published price or range.
  • The public listings of booking platforms, as a secondary source. We take only the price as data, respect their terms of use and do not carry out bulk extraction.
  • Studies by professional associations and consumer associations, as context for the city's ranges. We always cite them.

We do not write to or call centres pretending to be customers.

How we calculate the ranges

The range of an area is the minimum and the maximum observed among the centres in that area or near it, not counting outliers that lie far from the median.

We publish the range of an area only when the sample of different centres is large enough. If it is not, we show no range for that area.

How centres appear

We keep an inventory of centres based on public directories and professional registers, where they exist, and on the centres' own websites, using only public business data. Centres can appear in two ways: as a partner centre, with the Sponsored label, or in the neutral list of an area, which is explained below.

If you appear in a list of our directory

The lists on the area pages show centres and professionals with their name, address, the services they offer and a link to their website. When the activity has a public professional association or register, we show only centres with at least one registered or enrolled professional, with their registration number.

The registration number and the rest of the data come from the public search of the association or register that corresponds to each activity, where it exists, and from the centre's own website. We include only business data and public register data: never a personal phone number or email.

A centre appears only if its address is in the area, if the public register confirms it when the activity has one and if its website works. What we cannot check is not shown.

The order of the list follows these objective criteria, in this order:

  1. First, the centres that publish the service of the page on their website.
  2. Then, by distance from the centre's address to the reference point of the area, from smallest to largest.
  3. If there is a tie, by alphabetical order of the name.

Appearing in the list is not a recommendation or an assessment of the centre or the professional. Nobody pays to be in the list or to move up, and the order never depends on payments, opinions, clicks or any commercial relationship.

The paying partner centre, if there is one, appears only in its own space, with the Sponsored label. In the list it takes the place that corresponds to it under the criteria above.

We do not write to or call the centres or professionals in the list to tell them they appear. This section is the notice.

In your message, state:

  • the name of the centre, so that we can find the entry;
  • your registration number, if you have it at hand;
  • whether you ask to correct a piece of data (say which) or to remove the entry.

To ask for a correction or removal, write to [email protected]. It is the same contact that appears in the privacy policy.

If you ask for removal, we act on it and the entry stops appearing. Removing an entry does not depend on any payment, and we record the request without keeping more data than necessary.

How sponsorship is kept separate

A centre can pay for the partner centre space, not for the content. No payment changes the guides or the prices, nor does it help to appear better rated. Some spaces are paid and always carry the Sponsored label.

The full rules are in the sponsorship policy.

How the content is produced and verified

Mejores Barcelona produces and checks its texts with its own technology from official data and cited sources, orders the lists with its ranking algorithm and publishes as an organisation. Before publishing, the automatic check verifies that:

  1. each statement is checked against the pages of the cited sources;
  2. the text passes a quality rubric;
  3. the advertising and consumer information rules that apply to each sector are met;
  4. there are no promises of results or advice for an individual case;
  5. important notices are visible and the tone is informative.

The data and sources are visible on every page so that you can check them yourself. A text that does not pass the check is not published. Pages carry no individual signature: if one day a registered professional reviews a text, the page will show their name and credentials, and not before.

When it is updated

Each price carries the date on which it was collected. Prices are collected again periodically and marked for updating when they are too old. The price index is published with version dates.

Any important change to a text goes through the automatic verification again before it is published again.

What exists today

The site is in preparation. It does not yet publish prices by area, partner centres or lists of professionals. When they exist, they will follow the criteria of this page.
