Requirements and minimum age

The minimum age to obtain a class B licence is 18 years.1 Driving instruction takes place at authorised driving schools, with an exception for anyone who already holds a licence of the same or a higher class.1 If it is your first licence, the usual route goes through a driving school.

The category B licence allows you to drive cars of up to 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass and no more than 8 passengers in addition to the driver.2
