Who can carry out the treatment
The royal decree on biocide training regulates the training needed to carry out treatments with biocides and develops it, among others, for insecticides and acaricides.1 Biocide services that carry out treatments for third parties must have a technical manager.1
The Generalitat, through the Departament de Salut, processes the registration, modification and cancellation in the ROESP of environmental pest control service companies.2 This page does not certify any company.

The official sources reviewed do not explain how to consult the ROESP publicly and there is no official source for the price.
How many treatments are needed and why
Normally two to three treatments about 15 days apart are needed to control a bed bug infestation, because chemical treatments do not act on the eggs and this makes reinfestation likely.3 For that reason a single treatment may not be enough, and it is advisable to ask for follow-up visits.3
Bedding presumed to be affected must not be moved without first being washed hot, and must not be treated with insecticides. A wash at 60 ºC for 20 minutes, for 3.2 kg of dry laundry, kills adults, nymphs and eggs.3

How bed bugs spread and how important they are for health
Bed bugs are carried in luggage, clothing, beds and the wooden base of the mattress. Using second-hand beds, sofas and furniture is the most common way of carrying them from one place to another, and it is advisable to avoid furniture found on the street.3 Their presence is not limited to situations of poor hygiene or poverty: they also occur in homes of high socioeconomic level.3
Signs of bed bugs are dark stains on sheets, mattress or walls, eggs, shed nymph skins, the insects themselves and lesions on people. The initial infestations are usually around the bed.3
Bed bugs are unlikely to transmit diseases when they bite; their medical importance is limited to the itching and discomfort of the bites.3 Some people develop red, itchy welts or swelling, while others have no reaction or only a mild one.3
